Photos from Bounce Animal Rescue's post Needless to say, the last few months have been absolutely insane and the rescue world has been no different. Between virtual animal meet-and-greets, a very large demand for adoptions, battling absolutely every technology glitch that has ever existed, and fighting back the urge to hug new adopters, Bounce is doing it’s best to adapt with the times.
If you have followed us throughout the years, you’ll notice we primarily focus on canines. Historically, we have always had more canine foster homes. However, every now and then we can’t resist getting our hands on some litter box users. They’re independent, smart, and quite frankly, run the world.
Cue stage right: Jet.
He came to us from a kill-shelter in northern Texas with his mom (Della - she is also available for adoption!), and two littermates. Unfortunately, when testing the family for a viral disease called feline leukemia, Jet tested positive. Feline leukemia suppresses the cat’s immune system and often results in cancer and various blood disorders. While Jet will not show symptoms for some time, his life expectancy is 3-5 years. Most veterinarians recommend humane euthanasia once symptoms start to appear. Worse yet, feline leukemia is contagious to other cats, so little Jet can’t have any feline friends or be an indoor/outdoor cat.
With so much death and despair occurring, Jet’s cruel irony just about killed us. But, Bounce is doing our best to adjust with the times, so we are rallying. We are rallying for an amazing home to give Jet a few years of skin scratches, catnip, and unconditional love.
To any adopter that is interested, we want to forewarn you that he’s a pretty popular guy. With so many fans behind him, his adoption fee is waived, and updates will be demanded often.
