Don’t fret, they will convince you to hold out for another month so it can be utilized as a play (and ambush) site.

Their hobbies include looking cute, hiding (and ambushing) from incredibly hard to reach places, and napping on your lap. Happy Friday! Just a few more hours until freedom. Until then, let’s chat about a blonde wallflower by the name of Constance.

At 7 months of age, this retriever/husky mix is a looker. Despite having all the physical attributes of a star studded socialite, Constance is not the life of the party. She prefers reading at coffee shops, discovering new Indie bands, and sitting at the periphery of school dances. She is sweet, smart, and emotionally intelligent.

Through the guidance and support of dedicated foster homes, Constance has quickly picked up home etiquette, including potty and kennel training. She adores other dogs and would do well in a home with a confident canine friend to show her the ropes. She has not been directly tested with children or cats, and while she is completely harmless and nonreactive, we suspect they may overwhelm her.

True to her breed characteristics, Constance has a love of the outdoors and would spend hours exploring the backyard if given the opportunity. While a yard is not an adoption requirement, any future adopter should be aware that she is still working on her leash skills. Once those has been refined, we have a hunch she’ll make an easy-going walking or hiking partner.

Friends, please meet Pumpkin. Despite being pretty

Friends, please meet Pumpkin. Despite being pretty remarkable, she’s been overlooked for 80 days.

At 5 months, 35lbs, this cattle dog mix has it all - looks, intelligence, personality, and a sense of humor. While initially shy when first meeting new people, she has a way of permanently wedging herself into your heart.

Pumpkin is food motivated, playful, great with other dogs, and loves anything involving water. She is skilled with the happy full body wiggle and wants you to share in her joy by bringing gifts of squeaky toys. She has quickly picked up potty and kennel training and sleeps through the night.

Because Pumpkin is a herding breed, she likes to herd. She has been known to give the resident chickens a run for their money, so she would do best in a home without small animals (birds, rodents, etc.) The same can be said for young children. If you don’t want your toddler ordered around by a puppy, please don’t apply.

Like parents with children, rescues shouldn’t (outwardly) have favorites…but we do. Say hello to Hooch. Hooch is a 5 year old, 65lb, hound/pit bull mix that is nothing short of a huge personality. He is silly, happy, athletic, and grabs life by the horns.

The hound can be strong in Hooch. We’ve found that if he doesn’t want to do what you are asking of him, he has the ability to go selectively deaf. It’s exactly like being married for 20 years. He makes up for this by being a fan of people and other dogs.

When not playing with the resident dogs, he enjoys long walks (where he can put his nose to good use), chewing bones, sleeping on his back, and sunbathing in perennial beds. He is kennel and potty trained, and would like an adopter with a 6-foot fenced yard. (While a backyard is not an adoption requirement, any shared wall neighbor should be aware that he occasionally throws around the hound bay.)

Good evening, friends. We would like to introduce Lucy and her party of six. Not only are they perfect, they’re ready for adoptive homes.

Lucy came to us from a high intake shelter in Oklahoma and gave birth a few short hours after entering our care. At approximately 7 years old, no dog should be subjected to birthing and raising rascally pups, let alone Lucy. As expected out of a rescue dog, she has taken this all in stride and we’re happy to put a stop to the unnecessary cycle of litters, even though she does make ridiculously good-looking puppies.

Lucy is easy like Sunday morning. She is compact (19lbs), affectionate, tolerant, well-mannered, and loves to hang. Whether it’s backyard BBQs, movie marathons, or walks around the neighborhood, Lucy is always the best version of herself. If you’re looking for a fast and drama-free friend, look no further.

Between inheriting many of her personality traits and also having access to incredible socialization and care since the moment of birth, Lucy’s puppies have truly won the jackpot. Thank you to everyone that so generously donated to Cherry’s eye surgery. Because of you, Cherry successfully received his surgery last week! While he’s still in recovery, he can’t stop smiling, and will be available for adoption soon. Thank you to all that made such a wonderful impact on his life.

Friends, let’s chat about Binky and Winky and how they could really benefit from your help.

Binky and Winky are a bonded pair of 10 year old Dachshunds that came to us from a backyard breeder. Because it wouldn’t be any other way, they have come to us with deplorable teeth, mammary masses, and a long history of knowing nothing but being cash crops. When all is said and done, we’re looking at a final vet bill of approximately $6,233.

If the second half of 2024 is anything like the first, rescue will continue to see the increasing costs to what we do, even as the number of dogs in need continues to climb. Despite some days being straight up depressing, when we see faces like Binky and Winky, we are reminded of why we continue the struggle.

And while costing $265.23 per square pound is no easy feat, these girls don’t let their current conditions affect their love for everything and everyone. Between easy demeanors, constantly wagging tails, and burrowing under the blankets to be close to humans, they are nothing but grateful for their new lease on life.

Friends, say hello to Turkey.

To get straight to the point - he isn’t getting much adoption attention because he’s a pit bull. Adopters don’t gravitate towards the bully breeds like they do poodles and labs. And while he might not be hypoallergenic or a state swim champion, he’s a complete delight, and a foster home favorite.

Turkey is happy, outgoing, and social. He loves to run and play. He loves food. He loves cuddling and doesn’t care if he’s too big for your lap. Being of teenage dog years (~10 months old), he’s fun, curious, and sometimes mischievous. Turkey lives harmoniously in foster care with multiple dogs of varying ages and sizes. He has impeccable social skills and plays with those that want to play, and shoves off when they don’t.

Turkey’s one knock is he gets excitable when seeing other dogs on leash. Between Pterodactyl screeches and pulling on his leash, he can be a bit much to the untrained eye. Fortunately, with the incredible help of our trainer and foster home, he has made remarkable progress and his dog-sighting leash skills are turning a corner. (Our trainer has also extended her help with any leashed introductions for adoption meet-and-greets.)

Turkey is kennel trained, potty trained, and an excellent playmate for other dogs. While we don’t know how he is with cats, and he’s completely harmless in all aspects of life, we can’t imagine there’s a cat out there that will appreciate his tomfoolery.

Friends, please meet Cherry, a 3-month-old corgi m

Friends, please meet Cherry, a 3-month-old corgi mix of sorts. He could really use your help.

As pictured, Cherry has a wonky looking eye. In the animal medical world this is called a prolapsed nictitans gland, prolapsed third eyelid, or cherry eye. (Yes, Cherry has a cherry eye. And before you say anything, a 5-year-old boy named him. Mondays are hard enough, and arguing about a puppy’s name with a kid was not the mountain we were dying on. Plus, he and his family foster numerous dogs a year, so he truly has the upper hand.)

Cherry eyes, if left untreated, can cause poor lubrication to the eye, which results in a host of issues like infections, dry eye, and corneal scarring. This is absolutely not acceptable for any dog, let alone an 84 day old puppy.

Luckily, there is a very successful surgical fix. Unluckily, it’s going to cost $1,100.

Happy afternoon! Please say hello to Bernice, an 11 month old, Bernedoodle.

After being released from a “breeder” (aka puppy mill), Bernie landed straight in a high-intake Oklahoma shelter. Terrified and bewildered, Bounce swooped in and called her ours. After three months of intensive foster home love and rehab, this resilient beauty is finally in a spot to move to an adoptive home.

Bernice is the true definition of a wallflower, and despite her good looks, has no desire to be the most popular girl in school. While initially shy and withdrawn, Bernie emerges as a goofy and lovable companion with time and patience. She loves other dogs, the backyard, and squeaky toys. She also enjoys playing chase, tossing balls to herself, and bounding in the snow. She would love a home with a fenced yard and a playful canine companion. She would also prefer a home without young children as they overwhelm her. And let’s be honest, until they can wipe their own butts, they overwhelm us too.
